The Carraig Óg section of Carrigaline GAA club caters for several hundred players ranging in age from 5 to 10 years old. In this day and age we feel this to be a vital service as it provides fun, healthy pastimes for the youth of the area in a well supervised environment.
During the past year the Football Carraig Óg Street Leagues took place, in which over one hundred and fifty boys took part amidst much excitement and fanfare.
In our quest to provide the best service possible to the young people of Carrigaline and the surrounding areas, we in the club participate in providing a full-time coach, Brendan O’Driscoll, to liaise with the local schools. This forms a huge part of our objective to provide the young people of the area with a means of achieving their potential in a team environment while also helping to maintain and achieve a high level of fitness which we feel is vital in the changing living circumstances of the day.
A major part of the clubs objective is to keep the young people of the community active as they grow into adolescence and this we ensure by fielding teams at every age from Under 10’s to Under 16’s. As the players grow we endeavour to help further their development into responsible young adults who are ready to take their place in a community of which they are suitably proud.
